Carbo-loading

Does beer count?

I sure hope so.

Because I’ve had plenty during this ‘taper’ week (taper referring to mileage, not beer drinkage).  And if I’m tapering, that means I’m gearing up for another half.  The Providence Rock ‘n Roll half marathon. Providence scares me.  It’s a hilly city.  But for some reason the elevation map doesn’t look so challenging.

Anyways, I think I’m in a better position for Providence than I was for the Old Port.  My foot/heel/achilles has been pretty good. I’ve really been concentrating on my stretching and flexibility and core strengthening.  I’ve been doing my long runs, but also adding some hills into the mix.  I’m nowhere near the shape I was in back in May before my heel stress fracture, but I’m ready for Providence.

Except if it rains.  And, of course, that’s the forecast.
