with a split-neck, drop hem and thumbholes!

Now the good knitter in me would quickly run this up to my bathroom, fill a tub with lukewarm water and some Soak, and give this baby a nice bath to block it.  But if I want to take Runner to Surf City, I don’t think it would dry in time.  So I’ll wait on the blocking (although I may steam iron the neckline to firm it up a bit).

I was lucky to get this done today–I had more knitting time than anticipated.  My coworker (actually an intern) has been suffering with a toothache for almost a week.  After a failed visit to one dentist (who actually sent her away without a diagnosis or even some pain meds), I got her an appointment with my dentist.  He got her into an oral surgeon, and she had her tooth extracted and the post for an implant implanted this afternoon.  I accompanied her to both my dentist and the oral surgeon.  I got a fair amount of work done at the surgeon’s, until my phone (which was my hotspot) died.

Today for Janathon I continued my taper, and worked on stretching and strengthening (blah).  I’m a little ambivalent about this upcoming race–my hip/butt is not where I would like it to be, and as a result, I haven’t been able to train like I would like to train.  But most of all,  a peek at the course yesterday freaked me out a bit.  It’s mostly an out-and-back, and the last 4.5 miles are a long straight-away.  I hate long straight-aways.  They’re rather boring.  I’m going to have to reconfigure my playlist so I’ve got some motivating music for that last stretch.

But no matter how the race goes, I’ve got on hell of an excellent trainer to wear as I cool down!

Janathon totals:

  • total miles run: 86
  • total yards knit: 1,050 (not even 1 mile)
  • # of sweaters completed: 1

  1. I love your running shirt! I knit too, but haven’t gone beyond rectangles (for prayer shawls, lap robes and the like) in a long time. I’ve never made a sweater. Did a pair of socks once on a single loop but that was part of a class and when I tried again, alas! I could not get beyond the heel. How difficult was it? Oh, poop. Who am I kidding? Great job, though.

  2. WOW…I do not knit….so I am super impressed! And I love the thumb catches (I just bought a base layer top with thumbholes and I LOVE it).

Wishing you the grandest of runs this weekend!

  3. LOVE it! If I can summon the financial wherewithall to buy enough yarn for a whole grown up garment, I’m thinking I might attempt just such a project. Kudos on a job well done, and for a race well run!
