Squeaking by

I promise when stateside to inundate you with the tons of photos I’ve taken, but today’s shot is more mundane.

I always forget how insanely close to the road Japanese houses can be. Not all houses, but many. Like this one. I always think this wouldn’t work for me–not because of the noise, but because I’m usually scuffing into my shoes as I’m opening the door and heading out. I would lose my life, or at least shoes, in a New York minute. Somehow though that doesn’t seem to be an issue here. Because neighborhood streets are neither littered with bodies or shoes.



  1. Here in Devon lots of old houses are right on the road, literally you would have to open the door look eft and right first then step out, no it would not work for me either. I love the mundane photo.
