No running today; instead 40 minutes or so of yoga. I alternate between these three youtube videos, all searchable under “yoga for runners.” The obvious first choice was the Runner’s World vid. I like this one, but for some techie reason, the video’s blurry. Yes, I know I should be wearing my glasses, but it’s even blurry with them.
Then there’s Esther. I like her, and more often than not (and especially when pressed for time), I pick her. She’s also got a great 11 minute warm up and cool down.
Adrianne is very cute, and knows how to turn a phrase. When I do have the time, I like to use her pre and post run videos.
To be frank, I never thought I’d be a fan of yoga, but when, after getting half way through a 30-day yoga challenge, I was able to sleep and drive without achy hips, I had to re-think my hesitation. Now I do Esther’s warm up prior to each run, and have concocted my own cool-down mash up. Six months later while no one will ever mistake me for Gumby, I am getting bendier. And (and this is a big ‘and’), I’ve avoided most aches, pains and niggles, saving me TONS of visits to the PT.
The only caveat–I stream the Youtube through my TV, and I’ve learned that if I don’t turn off my video, Youtube will pick something in a similar vein to show when my video is over. For some reason, the “in a similar vein” algorithm includes this really bodacious buxom woman doing yoga in a thong on some beach. No words.
